Most people would agree that it's rare when I don't have something to say. However, I haven't blogged for weeks because I really feel I have not had anything to say. I'm old and boring. It's Friday afternoon and I'm thinking about my laundry, and hoping when I get home I beat people to the washers. And the sad truth is, I will. Because it's FRIDAY people are OUT PARTYING (or at least enjoying a casual bev at Happy Hour). And honestly, I don't even care.
I like being old. I like going to bed early, and having a nice big mug of tea before bed, and playing board games with friends and calling it an early night. (Did I mention going to bed early?) I was not always this old. I used to go out right after work, stay out and dance the night away. I was a night owl, who could run on 3 hours of sleep. Go out at 10 p.m. on a Wednesday when the Yanks were playing on the west coast, and get up at 5:30 a.m. for work no problem. Now, just typing that sentence makes me feel tired.
After this weekend I have seven straight weekends of plans. I'm excited, because they're all wonderful - traveling, celebrating weddings with family and friends, spending time with some lovely visitors & showing them around Chicago, seeing some of my FAVORITE musicians in concert. It will be an amazing way to spend summer, but it kind of makes me tired thinking about it. And it makes me that much more excited for this weekend, and doing my laundry at 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and going to bed at 9. In fact, I kind of feel like I'm living the dream this weekend. And I'm not sorry :)
Hope you all have a weekend that you enjoy as much as I will enjoy mine, whatever it is you're doing.
P.S. I'd like to give a shout out to everyone celebrating PRIDE this weekend! I probably won't be celebrating, because I hate crowds, but I am with you in spirit!!
